A Wanderers fan has been arrested on suspicion of drug dealing during last night’s match.

The arrest was made as Bolton side secured its place at Wembley for the League One Play-Off Final.

Greater Manchester Police arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs during the Bolton Wanderers-Barnsley match at Toughsheet Stadium on Tuesday, May 7.

Acting on intelligence, GMP says it arrested the man inside the ground and recovered 16 bags suspected to contain cocaine and cash.

More snap bags and a mobile phone were recovered during a house search in Westhoughton later in the evening, according to the force.

The suspect remains in custody for questioning.

Detective inspector Tony Lunt said: “We rely on information from the public as we continue to protect our communities from drugs.

“We will always take action and act on information, and last night’s arrest proves we can make an arrest at any time and at any location.

Peterborough United and Oxford United play their second match in the other semi-final this evening, May 8, the winner of which will face Bolton in the Wembley final on May 18 to decide who gets promoted to the Championship.
