A new landlady has taken over a popular community and family pub that she went to as a local for years.

Sally May only started at The Beaumont Arms in Ladybridge a few days ago and says that it is going really well so far.

She has always had a passion for the food and beverage industry and has worked at a number of pubs throughout her life.

Sally said: “I only just took over a few days ago, but it’s been my local for a long time, so I thought I would apply for the job.

“I love it here, and it’s been quite good so far.

“It’s a community pub in the middle of a housing estate and there isn’t much around here.

“It’s always been a community and family pub.”

Food is also expected to get back up and running as Sally works with the chef to get the menu together after not serving food for almost 12 months.

Sally said: “The challenge is getting people back in here, which should be okay once food is back on.

“I know I haven’t been here long, but since I took over people have been coming in that I haven’t seen for quite a while.

“It’s a lifestyle.

The Bolton News: “There is always somebody different who comes through the door, and they always have a story to tell.

“If people have not seen someone for a while, then somebody knocks on their door. We have a lot of people who come here because they will have company, and it can be cheaper to come here than at home.”

The pub boasts a generously sized beer garden, complete with a screen outside for all the big games, which is very well used in the summer.

The price on selected beers has also been reduced, with the pub now not being run by a company.

There are lots of exciting events planned for the community including a Peaky Blinders fancy dress night, and a senior lunch, which will be held once a month, including bingo and a singer.

There are plans to also make the senior lunch more frequent if the demand is there.
