Teachers are to demand a seven per cent pay rise amid threats of the first national strike to hit schools in more than 20 years.
The Government has criticised the National Union of Teachers for scheduling a possible one-day walk-out for next month as other unions have stopped short of industrial action.
But delegates at the union's annual conference in Manchester will call for a "catch-up" pay award of seven pc and reaffirm their willingness to take industrial action.
