GARY Megson insists his misfiring side can score the goals to fire themselves to safety this season.

The Wanderers boss wants more ruthlessness from a front line that has scored just seven goals in their last 11 outings.

It was the same old story against Liverpool at the Reebok on Sunday, where despite creating several good opportunities with the points still well within their grasp, their bluntness in front of goal eventually cost them dear.

But Megson has faith that the players he has at his disposal can gain the 15 points he believes will be necessary to ensure Premier League football next season.

"We have never been a high-scoring team but we have scored goals, and we will continue to score goals," he claimed.

"But at the moment we have to improve on the ratio because there are one or two opportunities that have come along that we would expect to score, and haven't. We have to improve on that, and we haven't got a massive amount of time in which to do so."
