GARY Megson has spoken of his frustration so far in the January transfer window as he looks for talent to help pull Wanderers away from the relegation zone.
The Bolton boss has identified several players he thinks can take the club to safety, including Iceland international full-back Gretar Steinsson and Sweden star Johan Elmander.
But sealing the deals, claims Megson, is a task made more difficult both by the Whites' precarious league position and the fact he has widely-publicised funds to spend from the sale of Nicolas Anelka to Chelsea.
And though Megson is not short on ideas as to who he would like to bolster his squad, he freely admits the mission is made more difficult by his side's continuing inconsistency.
"It does make it harder to sign players," he said. "But it will make Roy Keane's (Sunderland boss) job more difficult and Paul Jewell's (Derby manager) job more difficult.
"I have been in this situation with West Brom. You know the players you want, but you don't always get the ones you actually need."

That's why you should have had replacements signed up BEFORE Anelka was allowed to leave, you miserable, naive lump of......How appallingly has our club been mismanaged since Sam's demise.

Steinsson deal should be done. He wants to leave and AZ want the money so they can bid for Alves. Gudni recommends the deal for both club and player. He was a true Bolton legend and a great centre back with a good football brain. Get the first one in and it will show others that we have ambition. !!!!!!

"Derby signed 4 players" Yes but they're all bobbins. Nobody else has signed big apart from Chelski that is. These things always take time. I blame it on the agents rather than megson. As soon as a player hears your interested in him his agent then stats touting them about. Its only when none of the bigger boys want them that the likes of Bolton sign them. I dont like it but thats the way it is BTID

Why aren't we in for the likes of Diarra (£5.5m) and Routledge (£1.8m!!)? Both of these players would improve the team immensely

I know hes now up north but that with Liverpool a whole different game ball. I must admit I feel sorry for Megson, its going to be difficult to sell a club that struggles to get 18K in their own stadium.
its part of the job board and manager to sell the club to a certain player and tell him long term plans and what ambition we intend to show after this dreadful season is over , and its to get the wright player to understand that and hopefully more players would follow him in , its all about stating what you wanna do at bolton and sell it to them
