BURGLARS smashed their way into a house and stole almost £3,000 worth of electronic equipment.

The incident happened overnight on Friday when thieves used a concrete block to smash the living room window of a house in Campbell Court, Farnworth.

They got away with a DVD player, a stereo system and video recorder, worth around £2,800.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 872 5050 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

sounds like an insurance scam to me - what were they made from? gold plated with ruby buttons? sounds like a "holiday" claim where there is always a camcorder lost even when they aint got one! lets see the receipts...unless they bought them from Brighthouse!!!!! then the prices could be real

The Police don't turn up after burglaries anymore but I can see them turning up after the claim form goes in.

Oh for Gods sake what is wrong with you lot?So someone spends a lot for top quality goods, some scumbag breaks into their house to steal stuff that the owner has worked hard and paid for, and all you lot can do is come out with comments like that.
You are pathetic the lot of you.
And as for you Panzer, what is that supposed to mean about where they live?

If he has a top of the range Mercedes outside his I presume Council flat then it would be more believable. I bet you don't live in a Council house and have an extra large Wide screen Plasma TV plus all the channels on Sky Digital do you ?

I actually live on this estate and just because people may live on a council estate doesn't meant to say their houses are still owned but the council and they don't have decent jobs and earn an honest living.

How much is this bet?
I don't mind proving you wrong.
Perhaps you don't realise this but council houses are not all that expensive to rent, leaving plenty of spare cash to buy nice things.

as for why would someone want to live in that area. Why would anyone want to live in a upper class part of town were people are the sort who think they can look down on others.

As for the value of the goods stolen, yeah it probably is a scam.
Who still owns a video recorder????
and more to the point who would bother to steal one when they are worthless on quick re-sale.

but who cares, the real scammers are the insurance companies who will fight tooth and nail to avoid a pay out.

best of luck to them I say.

No I don't live in a council house now but I was brought up in one and my folks are still in the same house but have bought it. And no I don't own a plasma TV and no I don't have all the sky channels because I have a life and don't spend all my time in front of the TV.
And before you say it, no I dont spend all my time on my PC either.
Unlike some on here it seems.
And....why do you presume it is a council flat?

Ok you never fell into my trap :)

Nothing wrong with people who live in Council housing, I just think spending that kinda money on a few common Electrical goods is a tad extravagent unless you are some millionaire footballer or suchlike.
Videos are £40.00 and when yours breaks you just pick one up with the shopping at Asda, thats the way life is these days.

Panza, your DVD might cost £40 from Asda but some people actually have taste and common sense and would rather spend more on a decent make that wont break down after a month.
You are a pathetic little weasel and need to get a life instead of imposing your jealous rantings on other people.

hehe

Can tell this comments page is certainly from Farnworth. lol

Believe me, ive lived in Farnworth all my life, in council houses. I know a lot of people from that area and theres only 1 of few ways theyve got the money to buy 3k worth of electrical equipment...

Drugs, Thieving or on drip from a company that charges 300000% interest because they never get their payments.

I'd go for the fraud option myself though.

If something did get stolen, it was probly a black and white portable tv, a 1960's 12" record player and a top loading video player.

Thats my "Opinion" and im entitled to it, so dont shoot me down :p
