Shock death of sportsman Owaine, aged 20
FAMILY and friends have been left devastated by the shock death of a popular young cricketer.
Owaine Carson, aged 20, was found dead in his bed on Saturday morning after a night spent with his family at their home in New Hall Lane, Heaton.
Yesterday the cause of his death remained a mystery.
His stepfather Graham McGreavy, aged 43, said: "He was working over the Easter weekend so had stopped in on Friday night.
"We were all watching television. He went to bed as usual and didn't complain of feeling unwell. There was nothing at all out of the ordinary. He died in his sleep."
Mr McGreavy and Owaine's mother, Jill Carson, aged 47, are now waiting for a coroner's report to establish the cause of death.
Owaine has two brothers Gareth, aged 24, and Josh, aged 13.
He was described by those close to him as an "inspirational young man."

A former pupil at Thornleigh Salesian College, Owaine had been training as an engineer with Bolton Industrial Doors.
By taking up cricket, he had followed in the sporting footsteps of brother Gareth, who has just been appointed captain of Heaton Cricket Club, and his grandfather Gordon Taylor, an umpire at the club.
Owaine joined the club aged nine and was a regular for the second team and made some first-team appearances.
Gareth said: "He played because he enjoyed it. He liked the social aspect and was a real showman on the pitch."
Mrs Carson added: "Owaine also enjoyed his football.
"When he was a pupil at St Thomas of Canterbury RC he was in the school team. He also played for Oxford Grove Football Club where he was proud of his achievement, captaining the team which won the Albert Lyons Cup.
"Thanks to him and Gareth, Josh is now interested in sport."
She added: "Everyone will remember Owaine's cheeky grin, he was always smiling.
"The funeral service will be a celebration of his life because that is what he would have wanted."
Mr McGreavy said: "He lived life to the full, he enjoyed everything he did."
Managing director of Bolton Industrial Doors John Thompson said: "Owaine had been with us for a couple of years. He was a popular member of the team here and had knuckled down and was on course to become an engineer.
"Since the news, the office has been very subdued. It has come as a shock."
A tribute page on the social website Facebook has been opened in his name.
Mrs Carson said: "Owaine had a lot of friends. So many people are leaving their condolences on the Facebook site."
